Element 5: After the Fair

Thank You's

Don't forget the last step and give thanks to everyone who helped make the health fair an outstanding success. Who should you thank?

Health Fair Committee Members

The health fair committee and all the volunteers need to be thanked for their hard work in making the health fair a success. You might consider sending your thanks with a card or letter, a photograph of them at the fair, a certificate, a special T-shirt or by throwing a big post-event party. Make sure all volunteers know how much you appreciate their help.

It is nice to have a thank you party or luncheon for the health fair committee and volunteers. Include the providers if you like! The party can be held immediately after the event or sometime later after the work is completed. Make the party fun and festive for everyone. This will be a time to get together, relax, and share stories of the big event.

Providers

Within a week or so after the health fair, send a thank you note to all the providers. Try to take the time to personalize each letter rather than send an obvious form letter. The providers gave you a valuable service, and they deserve some recognition from you. It is a nice touch to send a photograph of them at their booth during the health fair along with the thank you letter. Let the providers know some of the results of the health fair. Let them know you will contact them again for next year's event!

Participants

Don't forget to send thank yous to all the employees who came to the health fair. Remember, without participants the health fair would accomplish nothing. Try sending a personalized letter to employees thanking them for taking an interest in their own health. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with your employees and promote your next health fair or event-all at the same time.
